Seito Baldwin Park

Seito is a place that I frequent a lot in this neighborhood because it's literally right downstairs from where I live. We eat there often and I've had everything from sushi to soups to tempura to salads and miso soup. The salt and pepper wings are amazing as are the ribs. They fry these jalapeños that are so amazing, I always ask for an extra side of it.

Usually when I'm eating healthy, I get some veggie sushi. I'm not a huge meat eater, so I particularly love the fish and veggie options at Seito.

My favorite veggie roll is the Catalina Roll, which has mango, jalapeño, asparagus, avocado, cucumber, topped with roasted zucchini, Catalina dressing. I usually get it with Brown rice and the dressing on the side ( not to be like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally").

Last time I went to Seito I had the Corona Roll and although it didn't taste like beer, it was more amazing than I could have created in my head.

The Corona Roll has grilled shrimp, tempura asparagus, cucumber, topped with avocado, spicy crab, masago, pico de gallo, jalapeño, cilantro and lime. Let me tell you, it's AMAZING! The way they do the shrimp on tip and the raw jalapeño just makes it perfect.

Recently, they have a new menu that features everything from ramen to sandwiches to small plates to sushi. If you think you don't like fish or sushi you can still eat here. There are many apps like wings and entrees like grilled chicken sandwiches to salmon and chicken with rice and soup and salad.

They always let you substitute brown rice for white and they have the NICEST staff in town. I love it here because if you visit once...they know you forever. They remember your favorite items. I sit at the bar and Helen and Jessie always know I love the RIFF Pinot Grigio. If I want something different they know my taste and help me figure out what I'm looking for with my meal.

They have these sushi options that they call "opportunities".

-Tuna Opportunity

-Salmon Opportunity

They way they put these together...it's like art!

They know I don't eat much meat and offered me a "Vegetarian Opportunity" one time, and it's all I order now when I go there for dinner. It's not on the menu, but I order it and they make it for me anyway.

They have a GREAT happy hour during the week and on the weekends. It's really a great place to gather with friends, for a special occasion or just to catch a quick lunch.

My husband always orders their Chicken Teriyaki and brown rice and veggies. It's his favorite because it comes with soup AND salad.

They also have a location on Sand Lake and it's just as good.

I love the way they have their vat of sushi rice prepared for the night.

And if you have to tables or seats available at the bar, the primo spot for you would be "bellied up" to the sushi bar, itself.

I don't know about you, but I love to be "bellied up" to any bar....especially one where I can get great food and great drink service like Seito.

PS. If I had to recommend my favorite drink it would be the RIFF Pinot Grigio.

My name is Jill...and I love wine.
